Challenge

  • Complex and rapidly changing environment
  • Inconsistent view of data across multiple backend ERP and PLM systems leading to challenges in being able to manage the business from a global perspective
  • Need to collaborate with external parties – significant portion of manufacturing is outsourced to contract manufacturers

A global provider of intelligent photonic solutions wanted to consolidate systems to reduce the total cost of ownership and provide consistent processes and data to manage the business from a global perspective.

Challenge

  • Fast growing and rapidly expanding privately held company whose systems infrastructure needed to be updated
  • Inconsistent view of data across multiple backend Flexi ERP systems and spreadsheets leading to challenges in being able to manage the business and report results
  • Significant time spent by accounting department on proving results are accurate to auditors
  • Initial consultants did not produce results and ACS Systech was brought in to implement the system on SAP’s recommendation

Solution

  • SAP version 4.7, BW release 3.53 and Enterprise Portal 6.0
  • Project entailed consolidation and replacement of several legacy ERP and reporting systems
